My name is Helen and I work as the lead Speech and Language Therapist for the stroke unit, C8, where I am responsible for assessing and managing patients with communication and swallowing difficulties.
This includes providing information to patients, relatives and the multi-disciplinary team about a patient’s difficulties to help best support them on the ward. I regularly put in place therapy programmes to be completed by qualified therapists or our Speech and Language Therapy assistant. I am also responsible for supporting junior colleagues and the development of the Speech and Language Therapy service on C8.
I am enthusiastic about providing a high quality service for all of our patients and engaging with patients and relatives throughout their hospital stay.
