Gynaecology Cancer

Following a diagnosis of a gynaecological cancer, patients will receive support and treatment from the gynaecology team, consisting of clinical and administrative staff whose aim is to provide specialist and timely care for our patients’.

Gynaecology clinics are provided at both Russells Hall Hospital and Corbett Outpatient Centre, in a dedicated out-patient area, with speciality trained staff. Specialist services include Transvaginal Ultra Sound scanning, Hysteroscopy and Colposcopy.

Referrals are usually made by GPs or other medical professionals. We offer urgent access clinics (Rapid Access) and oncology clinics, and work closely with the Radiology department in the process of investigation and diagnosis. We offer minimally invasive and open surgery in the treatment of gynaecological cancers, and work closely with New Cross Hospital, as part of a Multi disciplinary team to deliver ongoing cancer care.

All patients with a suspected or confirmed cancer are discussed at a Multi disciplinary team (MDT) meeting, which includes Surgeons, Radiologists, Pathologists and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The benefit of this approach is that all of the specialists meet to discuss different treatment options and are able to reach a joint decision about your individual treatment plan.

Gynaecology MDT takes place on Tuesdays.
