The Dudley Group charity is holding a 5k superhero fun run at Himley Hall Park in June to raise money for the children’s ward at Russells Hall Hospital to support children and young patients while they are in hospital.

The Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital and Corbett and Guest outpatient centres, is asking the public to get dressed up as their favourite superheroes and join healthcare staff for a great day out.

“Hospitals can be a scary place, especially for children in our care,” said chief executive Diane Wake.

“We accept over 4,500 admissions a year and the funds raised for our Children’s Appeal will help provide the best possible environment to our patients and their families,” added Diane.

Ongoing contributions allow us to enhance the wellbeing and experience of our patients and staff by providing services and facilitates not routinely funded by the NHS or our Trust.

The Superhero Fun Run takes place on Sunday 11th June with the race starting at 11am. There is also a family fun day filled with children’s activities, stalls, and refreshments available until 3pm.

Puregym, based at Dudley Port, will be starting the day with a warmup session for all those taking part at Himley. HSBC UK Wolverhampton Market is supporting the event, alongside radio host Paul Essom and Black Country Radio. Well-known local busker Billy Spakemon shall also be playing, bringing further musical motivation to the day.

The event is completely free to attend and to participate in the fun run you can benefit from an early bird offer. Please visit the Dudley Group NHS Charity Facebook page or sign up here: Superhero fun run and family fun day | Dudley Group NHS Charity (enthuse.com)
