Equality impact assessments

Equality impact assessments help ensure that organisational decisions, practices and policies are fair and do not discriminate against any protected group. They were introduced to help organisations meet the public sector duty under the Equality Act 2010. Under the act, public sector organisations, or those in the third sector who work with the public, must show due regard to;

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Act.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

Patient Policy Equality Impact Assessments

Legislation requires that our policy documents consider the potential to affect groups differently and eliminate or minimise this where possible. This process helps to address inequalities by identifying steps that can be taken to ensure equal access, experience and outcomes for all groups of people.

Bed rails policy (Equality Analysis)

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that adult patients are assessed for the appropriate use of bed rails.

Clostridiodes Difficile Prevention, Control and Management Policy (Equality Analysis)

The policy is intended to provide guidance on the management of C.difficile within The Dudley Group Foundation Trust. 

Prevention & Management of Carbapenemase Producing Enterobacteriacea Policy

This policy provides guidance on the early detection (screening), management and control of CPE by following the guidelines published by UK HSA (2022). Literature might also refer to these organisms as Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacteriacea (CRE).

Discharge against medical advice (Paediatrics and Neonates) Policy

This policy provides a systematic pathway to ensure that neonates, children and young people are discharged in a timely manner, whilst providing support to the parent/carer, in the event that they take discharge against medical advice.

Mouth Care Policy

The aim of this policy is to provide guidance and standards for hospital staff responsible for providing/assisting in-patients with mouth care to maintain (or improve) oral health.

Venous Thromboembolism Policy

This policy applies to all staff employed by The Trust who are involved in Venous Thromboembolism and Bleeding Risk Assessment, and the prescription and administration of chemical and mechanical thromboprophylaxis, to ensure safe and best practice
