The popular Health on the Shelf community event is returning to the Merry Hill Shopping Centre giving local people the chance to access local services as they start their Christmas shopping!
The event will take place from Wednesday 12th to Friday 14th November, 9am to 3pm daily and will make it easier for residents to engage with local health services.
This three-day health and wellbeing showcase will bring together a wide range of local NHS, council, and community services — all under one roof — to help residents of Dudley access support, advice, and health checks in a friendly and convenient setting.
Organised by The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Dudley Council Public Health and local voluntary sector organisations, the event aims to help local people take proactive steps to improve their wellbeing.
Visitors will be able to access free mini health checks and screenings, receive personalised advice from trained professionals, and learn more about local services that support everything from mental health and bereavement to physical activity and substance misuse.
Over 15 local organisations will take part across the three days, including:
• DGFT Pharmacy – blood pressure
• Dudley Council Public Health
• The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust – AAA screening
• Your Health Dudley – mini health checks
• Mary Stevens Hospice – information on palliative and bereavement services
• Change Grow Live and Alternatives – drug and alcohol awareness and recovery support
• Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – mental health support
• Dudley 0–19 Service – family health, school nursing and health visiting
• Brook, Street League, Healthwatch Dudley, Cranstoun Dudley, and Black Country ICB, among many others
Together, these organisations will showcase the breadth of local support available and demonstrate how collaborative working can make it easier for residents to stay healthy and well.
Dr Lloyd Baron, local GP and clinical lead for health inequalities at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Health on the Shelf is about making health and wellbeing support accessible to everyone in our community.
“By bringing together so many local services under one roof, we’re helping people find the right advice and resources to improve their health — whether that’s through a simple blood pressure check, a conversation about mental health, or learning how to use the NHS App.”
Diane Wake, group chief executive of The Dudley Group and Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust said: “Health on the Shelf is a fantastic example of how we can bring health and wellbeing directly to the heart of our community.
“Events like this make it easier for local people to access health services, get advice from professionals, and take small but important steps toward a healthier lifestyle. We’re proud to work alongside our partners to make health support visible, approachable, and inclusive for everyone in Dudley.”
No booking is required. Simply visit the Health Market area on the ground floor by the new M&S food court during event hours to meet local health and wellbeing teams, take part in activities, and pick up useful information and giveaways.
