Area overview

The ophthalmology department works over three sites, Russell Hall Hospital has the main Eye clinic outpatient department, Orthoptic Department and Day case theatre for surgical procedures, Minor procedure Room (MPR) for intra vitreal injections. The Guest Outpatient centre holds Orthoptic, Optometry, and low visual aid clinics and Corbett Outpatient Centre has the Ophthalmic Technician Led Diagnostic Hub and intra vitreal injection clinics

The ophthalmology service for all ages includes an Urgent Referral Clinic (URC), ocular slit lamp examination, fundus fluorescein angiography , ocular scanning and mapping, pre-op assessment, surgical procedures, intra vitreal injections, we also provide an orthoptic service, paediatric refractions and low vision service

How to access the service

Referrals to the clinic are made through GPs, Opticians or the emergency department.

Known patients also have urgent access to the URC clinic.
