
Dudley Brain Injury Service provides support and information to people with a brain injury aged between 16 and 64 who live in the Dudley borough.
The service works with people with a brain injury and their family and carers in finding ways to develop independence and quality of life.
The team:
- Carries out an assessment of need
- Provides information about the effects of brain injury to individuals, their family and carers
- Provides a Case Manager to ensure individuals receive a coordinated rehabilitation plan
- Provides support to ensure that individuals are referred to appropriate services
- Supports exploration of new opportunities in areas such as training, voluntary work and employment
- Can provide education and training to care staff about the health and social needs of people with a brain injury
- Acts as an advocate and liaises with organisations that provide services to people with brain injuries
- Works in partnership with adult care services, health professionals, rehabilitation services, Headway, support workers, education providers and employment services
Referrals can be made by the person with a brain injury, family, health and social care professionals and individuals from any other organisation.
Dudley Brain Injury Service is a community-based service and therefore individuals are usually seen in their homes and treated in the community.
