Research and Innovation

Welcome to DGFT Research!

We have more than 90 studies running for children, young people, adults and older people at any time. More than 1000 people usually take part in our research each year. These studies range from questionnaires to longer projects involving new therapies, devices or drugs.

Our aim is to learn about how we can improve your care. There may also be some benefits from taking part in research. You may get to try out a new therapy that works better for you. Your participation may inform change in care in the future.

Supporting our highly motivated investigators from both internal and external organisations, our Research and Innovation directorate provides a comprehensive service ensuring that all research and innovation activity is undertaken safely, ethically, legally and efficiently.

Whether you’re looking to clinically evaluate a new system or product, or you’re looking for the expertise to help realise an idea, we want to help.

The Research and Innovation management and administrative team ensure that any research conducted within The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is fully supported by:

  • Identifying, approving and setting up trials promptly and safely
  • Complying with strict European Regulations/English law
  • Providing competent research capacity/resources
  • Managing financial budgets for research
  • Promoting research across the Trust clinical services
  • Undertaking and supporting Quality Assurance

Our budget is funded from external funding and not from standard clinical care. We work with the Research Delivery Network, industry, charities and universities to ensure that all clinical trials are feasible.
