PRESSURE DROP – African Caribbean Community Health & Wellbeing Day
Saturday 28th March | 12:00pm – 5:00pm
African Caribbean Centre 5 Abberley Street, Dudley, DY2 8QY
Join us for Pressure Drop, a free, friendly community event bringing people together to focus on heart health, wellbeing, and healthy living — all in a relaxed, supportive environment.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll be able to explore a range of stalls, enjoy music and conversation, and take part in activities designed to support your health and wellbeing. Free health checks will be available throughout the day in a private side room, alongside gentle seated exercise, children’s activities, dominoes, and plenty of opportunities to connect with others.
The event will officially open at 12:00pm, with a warm welcome from local GP Dr Lucy Martin, Deputy Lieutenant for the King. Shortly after, you’ll be free to visit the marketplace stalls, including a local African Caribbean fruit and vegetable stall and home made healthy cakes with a twist, while accessing health checks and networking with local services.
At 12:30pm, join David for an accessible seated exercise session suitable for all abilities. At 1:10pm, meet Miss Ida for an engaging and informative session exploring heart health, healthy eating, physical activity, what high blood pressure is, why it matters, and how it can be managed and prevented.
Light refreshments will be available, prepared by the venue caterers with low-salt, nutritious options. The afternoon then continues with more time to browse stalls, network, and access health checks.
At 3:15pm, enjoy a special session with Macka B, combining music, culture, and powerful health messages, before the event winds down with final networking and health checks. The day will close at 5:00pm.
