The session, delivered by the NHS Perinatal Pelvic Health Service in partnership with community organisations, will take place on Monday 18th May from 11am to 12.30pm at the Transformation Centre at Revival Fires Church in Dudley. The event will provide practical advice and guidance on pelvic floor exercises, postnatal recovery and caring for pelvic health during and after pregnancy.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to find out more about additional community support available through social prescribing and personalised care services. Pelvic health issues can affect many women during pregnancy and after childbirth, with symptoms such as bladder weakness, pelvic pain and reduced core strength impacting day-to-day life and wellbeing. Early support and education can play an important role in improving recovery, building confidence and helping women know when and where to seek further help.
Anna Baker-Barnes, Listening and Guidance Social Prescribing Link Workers (SPLWs) Team Lead for the Black Country, said, “Pregnancy and childbirth can have a significant impact on pelvic health, but many women may not realise support is available or may feel uncomfortable talking about the challenges they are experiencing.
“These sessions are important because they create a safe, supportive environment where women can access expert advice, ask questions and learn more about caring for their bodies during pregnancy and beyond.
“We also know that connecting women with community support and personalised care can make a real difference to their overall wellbeing, helping them feel listened to, supported and empowered.”
Grace Namwanj, Migrant Support Worker in Dudley & Netherton Primary Care Network will also be attending to share information about accessing social prescribing and personalised care support through local GP practices.
The event takes place on Monday 18th May from 11am to 12.30pm at the Transformation Centre at Revival Fires Church: 117 Wolverhampton Street, Dudley, DY1 3AL.
